Work Gets StartedThe old kitchen being dismantled But we can still use the hall Soon the old kitchen is gone.. ..and the new toilets take shape At the FrontWorks starts on the steps - but hits a snag with extra solid concrete But its cleared a few days later... ... and the footings go in for the Chapel... ...and the new entrance. Next the walls start to rise. MeanwhileRound at the back the new windows for the kitchen and toilets are about to go in, and the roof tiles about to go on. Soon after the windows are in and the roof finished. and inside the kitchen takes shape .... ... and is put into use.At the FrontAs the end of May approaches - the window and door frames go in. and in June work starts inside We are getting close to raising the money too. This is our "thermometer" wall chart - drawn by Cathy MacLennon. By the end of June the outside brickwork is up and the joists go on. Inside - the new Chapel is shaping up. By the end of July the roof is going on (after rain delays): But there's still plenty of work to do inside By the 6th of August the roof is complete (front and back): As August progresses, the doors go on, the new side entrance takes shape and inside the floors are laid.By the start of September the new doors are on - the new vestibule doors are in place. The Chapel doors are on and the Chapel is plastered. Towards the end of September - and the painters are in - the planter is there, the paving is being levelled, and we are nearing completion ready for our opening event. |
