We did it!

After 77 hours unbroken Bible-Reading, on Friday 19th May at 14:30 the whole church joined in together to read the last few verses from Revelation. We finished as Nick led us in prayer and then we sang "Lord of All Hopefulness"

Over 100 readers took part - filling over 230 20-minute reading slots, not to mention stewards and helpers.

And finally - a big vote of thanks to Karen Green who worked so hard to organise the whole event.

At 5pm on Wednesday we began the Book of Ezra, about half way through the Old Testament. Earlier in the day the Rt Rev Stephen Cottrell, Bishop of Reading, Rev Dr Mike Hill (acting Methodist Superintendent) and Rev Adrian Bulley (URC Moderator) read from Kings. A photographer from the Reading Evening Post came, so we expect to be featured there sometime in the next couple of days

Have you ever wondered how long it would take to read the Bible?

Well at Trinity we are going to find out.  On Tuesday 16th May 2006 we will start at Genesis and read the Bible out loud until we reach the end of Revelation.  We will be reading though the night and estimate that we will finish on Thursday.   or Friday.

We will be raising money for Trinity Church Buildings Fund so that we can improve the Church Building , in particular we need to: make it more welcoming, provide better disabled access, have a designated place for prayer and improve our facilities for offering hospitality.  Our plans are available for inspection in the church.

At Trinity Church , we have always had a strong tradition of supporting Third World projects and this building project is no exception.  Ten per cent of everything we raise for the Trinity Church Buildings Fund will be donated to Kagando Hospital in Western Uganda towards building a better, more secure guest house for visiting medical staff.
